What we do

Residential carpet takes a beating that no showroom sample ever shows. Foot traffic grinds fine grit into the lanes between the couch and the kitchen, kids drop juice and track in mud, and pets add their own accidents. Over a year that soil builds up at the base of the fiber where a vacuum cannot reach it, and the carpet starts to look flat and gray even right after you clean it yourself. Residential cleaning is about getting that ground-in soil out, not just freshening the surface.

We clean with truck-mount hot-water extraction, which most people call steam cleaning. Water heated to around 200 degrees goes into the pile under pressure, the heat and pre-treatment break the soil loose from the fiber, and a strong vacuum pulls the water, the soil, and the cleaning solution back out in the same pass. The rinse is the part that matters for a home. Low-moisture and store-rental methods leave a sticky residue behind that attracts new soil, so the carpet looks dirty again within weeks. A proper rinse keeps it clean for months.

We treat a house like a house, not a job ticket. We move the furniture two people can lift, we work around the pieces we cannot, and we protect wood floors and baseboards on the way in and out. High-traffic lanes and stains get pre-treated and given time to dwell before the wand ever touches them, because that dwell time is what actually lifts the soil.

Owner Charon Russell still runs jobs personally. Mr. Fresh Carpet Care is family-owned and operated out of Fairfield since 2013, IICRC-certified, no subcontractors. Call or text (707) 816-7103 for a same-day or next-day window.

Our process

We start with a walk-through so you can point out the spots that bother you and we can flag the ones you have stopped noticing. Then we vacuum the loose soil, move the furniture we can, and pre-treat the traffic lanes and stains with chemistry matched to your carpet fiber. We let it dwell so the pre-spray does the hard part before the extraction pass.

Then the clean itself, room by room. Hot water at pressure goes in, the truck-mount vacuum pulls it and the soil back out in the same stroke. On matted lanes we run a groomer to stand the crushed fibers up so the carpet looks refreshed, not just cleaner. If the house is humid or you need it dry fast, we set air movers to bring the dry-down into the standard window.

Surface dry is 2 to 4 hours, fully dry 6 to 12 depending on humidity and airflow. Before we pack up we walk the home with you again, and if anything is not right we fix it on the spot. We quote a firm price range on the phone after a few questions, and that is the price. No add-on games once we are in the door.

Residential Carpet Cleaning FAQs

How much does residential carpet cleaning cost in Fairfield?

Most Fairfield homes run $150 to $300 for whole-home cleaning, with per-room pricing of $25 to $75 and per-square-foot of $0.20 to $0.50. We start at $250 for the first 3 rooms in homes under 1,500 square feet and quote a firm range on the call after a few questions about the space.

How often should I have my home carpet professionally cleaned?

Once a year for a typical household, and every 6 to 9 months if you have pets, young kids, or allergy concerns. Regular cleaning pulls out the grit that grinds down the fiber, so the carpet lasts longer and looks better between cleans. Most carpet warranties actually require professional cleaning on a schedule.

Do I need to move all my furniture before you arrive?

No. We move the furniture two people can safely lift and clean under it, then set it back on protective tabs. We work around beds, large dressers, and anything fragile or electronic. Clearing small items and breakables off the floor ahead of time helps us move faster.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Surface dry in 2 to 4 hours, fully dry in 6 to 12 depending on humidity and airflow. Walking in clean socks after a couple of hours is fine, but wait the full window before putting furniture back. In humid or fog-belt areas we run air movers to speed the dry-down.

Is the cleaning safe for kids and pets?

Yes. We match the chemistry to your carpet and use it at the right dilution, and the truck-mount rinse pulls most of it back out, so very little is left behind. Once the carpet is dry it is safe for kids and pets to be back on it. Let us know about sensitivities and we adjust the products.

Will cleaning get rid of the flattened traffic lanes?

It helps a lot. We groom the matted lanes to stand the crushed fibers back up, and removing the ground-in soil lets the pile recover. Very old carpet with permanent wear in the lanes will look much cleaner and fresher, though fibers worn down over years cannot be rebuilt by cleaning alone.
